The big product release event by Apple earlier this week did not have any updates on the new MacBooks, but new versions of the Cupertino tech giant's popular laptops could still be looming.
Apple will start shipping new ultra-thin 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks before Q2 2016, according to DigiTimes. The shipping could imply an announcement of new laptops at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is slated for mid-June. The publication also reported that the new laptops will "share a design similar to the existing 12-inch MacBook," which will be even thinner than the current MacBook Air.
Apple has never released a 15-inch MacBook Air, according to MacRumors, and therefore, a revamp version of the product - including Retina display - would possibly be regarded something surprising to analysts. Furthermore, during the "Let Us loop You In" press event, analyst Rob Cihra noted that an update on the new MacBooks could come in time for WWDC since Apple is in the process of outfitting its MacBook lineup with Intel's Skylake processors.
The biggest reveal during the March 21 event was the smaller iPhone SE. The Cupertino-based tech giant will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on April 1, although based on their recent event, there is no certainty that Apple is planning for big surprises as the New Year begins.
Introducing new MacBooks could have been the best news for avid fans. However, as opposed to the new laptops, the elephant in the room is the company's legal fight with the FBI concerning the creation of software to crack the gunman's security after he killed 14 people in San Bernardino.
In addition, it is reported that the March 21 event went on with a less bang. Based on some reviews, possibly the products that the Cupertino tech giant launched were not that interesting. The Monday event was focused on how the tech giant presents new products amid a fierce battle concerning security, privacy, and public policy.
