Microsoft's Cloud App Security has been released to the public as an addition to the company's security platform that they are currently building. This new security service allows users to protect their sensitive data that is stored in the cloud.

According to Microsoft Cyber Trust's official blog, the new service is made for IT and security teams, and lets them basically take control of a company's network like restricting use of any files and monitor any cloud apps being used. In this way, the team can easily get the idea of how secure the information of the company really is.

This new service that Microsoft has launched will provide a set of capabilities to help companies make and enforce a better process of security for using cloud storage. The company said in the blog that it will be easy to deploy, setup and use, and has a lot of tutorials for users who want to take advantage of advanced features.

The company explained that Cloud apps were being used by many companies these days, and there will come a time where a lot of those data will be saved to the cloud service than within the company buildings. There are a lot of people who are using the cloud and even other companies use it through the Shadow IT. This is why Microsoft encouraged other companies to use the Cloud App Security to safely monitor, and control cloud app usage through policy.

According to Microsoft Technet's official site, this service can support firewalls and proxies like Blue Coat, Cisco, Fortigate, Zscaler, Palo Alto, Check Point, McAfee Secure Web Gateway, and many more. Amazon Web Services, Dropbox, Salesforce, and other cloud services can also be monitored through this new service from Microsoft.

By launching their own technology of Cloud App Security, Microsoft is now competing with other companies that are in the cloud access security broker business like Skyhigh Networks, and Elastica. These companies have been in the business for several years already, but there has not been a comprehensive solution for this issue, and MS is confident that they can deliver better.
