There was a lot of confusion whether Samsung Galaxy S5 would receive the latest Android Marshmallow update or not, as it is over two years old. However, in light of Sprint's Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 rollout, such doubts are now removed.

Users should also note that the update is rolling out in phases, so they need to check their devices for OTA notifications. Users can go to Settings> About Device> Check for Updates to see if they are prompted to go in for a manual upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport users are also getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on their devices. However, only the Sprint network carrier is rolling out the update for this device.

On the other hand, network carrier T-Mobile is testing Samsung Galaxy S5 for the update, according to its support page. It may release the Android 6.0.1 update by the end of April.

The release schedule of the other carriers such as AT&T, US Cellular, and Verizon is not yet known. Though in light of Sprint's Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow release for Galaxy S5 and S5 Sport, other network carriers are also expected to follow suit, soon.

Meanwhile, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is also released for other Samsung devices, such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Note 5 and Note 4. Various network carriers have already started the rollout process in a phased manner.
