In the upcoming "Criminal Minds" season 11 finale, Special Agent Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) will be the latest victim of Behavioral Analyst Unit (BAU) agents to have his life in danger.

The official website for "Criminal Minds" season 11 finale reveals that Hotch will be detained by a SWAT team for conspiracy. Hotch's apprehension will leave the rest of the BAU team trying to prove his innocence. In the process, the BAU crew will speculate that his arrest is just one part of a bigger malicious plot.

The unfortunate situation of Agent Hotch follows the kidnapping of Special Agent Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) and the deadly blind date of Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) earlier this season.

While constant danger at work may just be an occupational risk for the BAU crew, the show has a history of these agents and those close to them being maltreated by treacherous criminals. Earlier in the series, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) became a target of a for-hire criminal gang while Haley (Meredith Monroe), Hotch's wife, fell at the hand of a serial killer back in the fifth installment.

It seems Hotch's life or at least his liberty will be at stake in season 11 finale. "Criminal Minds" set the stage for the much-awaited finale with episode 21, titled "Devil's Backbone." In this episode, Hotch and the rest of the team at BAU worked hard to save the lives of two young men by working on a case involving Antonia Slade (Frances Fisher), a convicted serial killer.

Clothes from the two young men, who had been missing for many years, were sent to Slade in jail. The BAU team was tasked with getting the convicted serial killer to uncover where the two boys were being held hostage, the person behind the kidnapping, and what the kidnapper was planning for them.

In the process of getting answers from Slade, the serial killer, in turn, got personal information from the BAU agents. At the end of episode 21, she left a blood-curdling final message for Hotch.

Slade warned that a storm was coming for Agent Hotchner, in which case the agent will be swept away. According to TV Fanatic, the serial killer has plans for Hotch, something that fans will not discover until season finale.

"Criminal Minds" airs every Wednesday on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. Watch the footage below for more information.
