Rumors abound that the much-anticipated book "Winds of Winter" is currently in the publishing house. It is expected to be released later this month.

The much-delayed book "Winds of Winter" in the "A Series of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin has been five years in the making. It was supposed to be released before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 6; however, Martin was not able to finish it on time.

There are also reports that Martin may have taken on a co-author to help him finish off "Winds of Winter" as he was suffering from writer's block. Neil Gaiman, the respected author of "The Graveyard," "American Gods," "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" and "Stardust" may have aided Martin to complete the book.

Earlier this year, Martin had expressed his displeasure on his blog Not A Journal about the delayed release of "Winds of Winter." He said that numerous public appearances and other writing projects were responsible for delaying the book.

He had expressed his intention of pushing everything to the back-burner and finishing "Winds of Winter" on priority. Fans were disappointed with the delay and hoped that the book would be out before "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premiere.

Meanwhile, "Winds of Winter" is going on a different trajectory compared to its TV adaptation. In an in-depth interview with IGN, Martin revealed that the book's hero will be a character who has died in the TV series.

In light of the above revelation, this character is expected to be Stannis Baratheon who has been killed off in "Game of Thrones" Season 5. The book is also expected to focus on Tyrion Lannister even though he has a minimal role in the TV series.

On the other hand, "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is focusing on Jon Snow, who was killed mercilessly in the Season 5 finale. The Red Woman resurrects him from the dead with the aid of her magical powers and then he goes on to extract revenge from his attackers.
