"Empire" season 3 may no longer see the Jussie Smollett playing the role of Jamal Lyon.

In the previous episode of the hit FOX series, Jamal was involved in a major casualty that led fans to believe that he has died.

"Rise by Sin" was a very emotional one for Jamal who had to undergo surgery for a gunshot wound. Immediately after the emotional scene, the actor took his thoughts to Twitter to hint at his possible departure, according to TV Series Finale.

"This scene with one of my acting idols @terrencehoward was so damn difficult but so real. #empire," he wrote.

In a follow up tweet, the actor shared that he and Howard were the ones who rewrote that particular scene.

"I said this earlier but all I could do after that scene w @terrencehoward is embrace& say I love you. We rewrote that scene together. #empire," he wrote.

Smollett also took some time to acknowledge how adorable his onscreen mom Taraji P. Henson was in the episode.

"So adorable how excited #Cookie is. She loves that raggedy #Lucious and he loves her. The only thing that brings purity out of him. #empire," he wrote.

Meanwhile, the actor also shared more cryptic tweets that fans believe had to do with his fate on "Empire."

"This is why we must watch how we treat people. We never know how long they have. Just in the blink of an eye. Gone," he tweeted.

In a follow up post he wrote, "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX. I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire."

In other news, the upcoming finale episode of "Empire" season 2 see Jamal struggling to survive at the hospital. Since he recently suffered from a serious condition, Jamal will urge his entire family to make peace.

Here's a look at the synopsis for "Past is Prologue": "In an effort to end the cycle of violence, Jamal refuses to make music until his family makes peace; the Feds want Anika to testify against Lucious; Cookie calls a meeting at Hakeem and Laura's wedding."

"Empire" season 3, episode 18 will air on FOX on May 18 at 9 p.m. ET.
