After a number of leaks in March, publisher Warner Bros. has eventually revealed the release of "Batman: Return to Arkham" remaster collection" available for PS4 and Xbox One. The much anticipated remastered collection features two caped crusader video games and will be out on July 26.
Fans could get the chance to play remastered collections of "Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" made for the last generation of consoles, according to Telegraph. The collection is priced at $49.99. Prior to its release, a trailer of the collection was already available to give gamers a peek of the collection.
"Batman: Return to Arkham" would not include Warner Bros. Montreal studio's "Batman: Arkham Origins." Instead, the collection is being handled by Chinese developers Virtuos, who upgraded the games' graphics from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4 to improve the already enhanced visuals. Virtuous is the port house known for "Final Fantasy X" and "Heavy Rain" remasters.
For added perks, the collection would also include game of the year edition bonuses and other associated DLC content. "Arkham Asylum" takes Batman in an ostensible mental asylum overtaken by Joker and his allies. The fight scenes and its high level design were well noted that it is regarded as one of the best superhero games created.
"Arkham City," released initially in 2011 is about the battle of Batman with Arkham inmates Penguin, Joker and Two-Face in the streets of Gotham City. Rocksteady Studio ended the Arkham series with its "Arkham Knight" in 2015 which was an Unreal Engine 3 project. It was the same studio that released development for the PC version of "Batman: Arkham Knight."
"Batman: Return to Arkham" was the first for the series made with Unreal Engine 4. It features upgraded models, lighting, environments, effects, shaders and improved graphics, IGN reported.
The collection will be released just a week after the showing of R-rated "Batman: the Killing Joke" film. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill who portrayed the roles of "Arkham" games' Batman and Joker will be reprising their roles in the movie. No PC release for "Batman: Return to Arkham" has been announced yet.
