From a variety of devices Xiaomi has been producing, it may not become a surprise now that the company confirmed releasing of their first own drone. The Xiaomi MI Drone is expected to be unveiled at an upcoming event on May 25.

As reports claim, a variety of the MI drones will be released including a high-end version which will be at par with the current drones in the market right now.  The first Xiaomi drone will be capable of capturing 4K video using its spherically shaped camera located at  the bottom, Slash Gear reported. There have also been rumors that it will be capable to answer commands only through hand movements and gestures while it moves mid-air.

Times of India noted that the upcoming drone from the Beijing-based company is similar to a previously released drone from Yuneec called Typhoon H. There were speculations that Xiaomi may have collaborated with Yuneec for the MI drone as specifications of both drones are very similar to each other.

According to the report, the Typhoon H can also record 4K videos at 30 frames per second while its 12 MP camera can capture quality images. With an air time of 25 minutes, Yuneec's drone can reach as high as 400 feet with it being controlled using a 7-inch touch screen remote controller. Aside from these, the said drone is said to have folding rotor arms and a retractable landing gear. With these features and specifications, it can be assumed that the MI drone will be having most, if not all, of the specifications stated above.

Currently, the market is dominated by drone devices made by DJI, GoPro and Amazon. It is expected that the MI drone will be competing with the existing ones both in price and performance. Several reports claim that the Xiaomi drone will be priced at around $610 which is considerably cheaper than the Phantom 3 4K. Despite these significant difference in price, some are still asking if the drone being offered by Xiaomi can keep up with the existing drones.
