Sadly, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are not a match made in heaven. Depp and Heard - who met on the set of 2011's romantic-comedy film called "The Rum Diary" - have officially called it quits after 15-month of marriage.

The 30-year-old actress filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 23, Monday, and cited "irreconcilable differences" as a reason behind the separation, TMZ reported. According to the publication, Heard listed the separation date as April 22, Sunday, two days after Depp's mother, Betty Sue Palmer, passed away.

Further, Heard seeks spousal support from Depp, something that the latter did not agree. The 52-year-old actor has filed his own legal documents through Attorney Laura Wasser, on May 25, Wednesday.

Depp, who has an estimated net worth of $400 million, is asking the judge to dismiss his estranged wife's claim for spousal support. As recalled, Depp and Heard first opened up to the world about their relationship the following year after the former announced his separation from his wife of 14 years, French singer-actress Vanessa Paradis, in June 2012. Depp shares two children with Paradis - 17-year-old Lily-Rose Melody Depp and 14-year-old son John "Jack" Christopher Depp III.

It was said that Depp and Heard did not enter into a prenuptial agreement before exchanging vows in a private wedding ceremony at home on Feb. 3, 2015, which they shortly followed with a cozy celebration on Depp's private island in the Bahamas. Soon after Depp and Heard got married, the pair became a frequent target of numerous divorce speculations.

"I try not to react to the horrible misrepresentation of our lives, but it is strange, and hard," Heard said on Marie Claire on December 2015, as quoted by People.

The respective representatives of the two were not immediately available when the publication has reached out for comment. Meanwhile, Depp is set to make a big-screen appearance in the fantasy-adventure sequel film, "Alice through the Looking Glass," which opens in the United States on May 27, Friday.

Depp is set to reprise his role as Tarrant Hightopp aka The Mad Hatter, along with Anne Hathaway as Mirana of Marmoreal aka The White Queen, Sacha Baron Cohen as a half-clockwork, half-human called Time, Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebeth of Crims aka The Red Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsleigh. The film is based on Lewis Carroll's novel, "Through the Looking-Glass." It is directed by James Bobin with a script penned by Linda Woolverton and produced by Tim Burton.
