Initially dated to air in July 2017, release date of "Pitch Perfect 3" has been moved five months from its original release date. Now slated for showing in December 2017, fans of the Barden Bellas will have to wait a couple of months before finally seeing the much-awaited musical comedy film.

The delay was to give way for another Universal Pictures movie, "Girl Trip" directed by Malcom Lee to air on the original launching of "Pitch Perfect 3." "Girl Trip" is another female frontal comedy film similar to the "Pitch Perfect" series, Hollywood Reporter reported.

Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Britanny Snow have confirmed they are returning back to the movie and are expected to reprise their roles. It is also expected that additional talent will be included in the upcoming installment.

Some of "Pitch Perfect 2" casts will still star in "Pitch Perfect 3" like Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine, Katey Sagal, Ester Dean, Kelley Jakle and Hana Mae Lee, while previous "Pitch Perfect 2" director Elizabeth Banks will still be on top of directing, ComingSoon.net reported.

The same report revealed that the "Pitch Perfect" and "Pitch Perfect 2" writer Kay Cannon will still be writing the third franchise entry. The Emmy-nominated writer also worked for NBC's "30 Rock" and FOX's "New Girl."

It can be recalled that "Pitch Perfect 2" revolved around Barden Bellas' redemption of their image caused by a scandal during a performance in President Barack Obama's birthday party. The unwanted event lead to the group's suspension in holding auditions which significantly affected their image. Beca, Anna Kendrick's character, tried to re-establish the group by winning the World Championship of Acapella. The next "Pitch Perfect" sequel is set to air on Dec. 22, 2017 in theaters worldwide.

Meanwhile, "Girl Trip" will revolve around the story of four friends who travel together to New Orleans to attend the annual Essence Festival. During the trip, each other's wild sides were discovered, friendships were rekindled and a lot of partying happened. Produced by Will Packer, "Girl Trip" is set to launch on July 21, 2017.
