Chinese phone manufacturer, OnePlus, has announced an official release date for its upcoming OnePlus 3, which is slated for June 14. While the release is less than two weeks away, rumors are still surfacing online about the smartphone.

Previously, OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X attracted smartphone fans. However, the phone maker's invite system turned out to be disappointing for many OnePlus phone enthusiasts. The system required clients to register their interest in a phone and wait for the company to send an invitation to purchase OnePlus phones.

The Chinese tech giant chose to halt the invite system for OnePlus 2 in December 2015, followed by OnePlus X in January this year. Seemingly, the company understood that customers were not happy with the invite system, and therefore, it has confirmed that the imminent OnePlus 3 and other future smartphones will be available invite-free from Day 1.

A statement via OnePlus forum read, "With the OnePlus 3, we're officially saying goodbye to invites. It's a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts. We're proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one."

Mocha RQ, an industry expert said that OnePlus delayed the release of its upcoming device to mid-June possibly because the company wanted to stock 1 million units before the official launch, according to GizmoChina. Because of the popularity of the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, it seems the manufacturer wants to get ready to receive a huge clientele response for the OnePlus 3 on the release day, and this is clear in the price cut on all previous OnePlus phones.

The publication also indicated that the OnePlus 3 could be available in four variants. Pricing will be according to the material, memory capacity, and other features of each model.

Earlier reports hinted that the OnePlus 3 would have a starting price tag of $308. However, latest rumors have it that the base model of the OnePlus 3 will go for $349. Other versions of the smartphone will cost $379, $410, and $425.

Although the smartphone maker has announced the release date and specs; pricing and other details remain under wrap. Fans will have to wait until June 14 for the company to unveil full details of the much-awaited handset. Here is footage for information on OnePlus 3 features and specs.
