After winning the hearts of Korean audience, KBS' megahit series "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) is coming to Japan. Song Joong Ki (Yoo Shi-jin), Song Hye-Kyo (Dr. Kang Mo-yeon), Kim Ji-won (Yoo Myung-ju) and Jin Goo (Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young) starrer will go on air for the first time in Japan. Actor Song Joong Ki shared the big news with his fans on Twitter. Read on for the details and find out when and where to watch the premiere.

On June 5, Song Joong Ki announced the big news via his Twitter account and posted all the details. According to the post, "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) will premiere on June 21, Tuesday. The show that tells the love story of a captain of a South Korean Special Forces unit and doctor Kang Mo-yeon will be broadcasted on Hikari TV, Cat TV, J:Com and SkyPerfect TV.

Before the show goes on air, a special premiere of "Descendants of the Sun" episode 1 will be organised in Tokyo and Hyogo. Reservations and bookings are opened and the visitors attending the special preview will be given a small "Descendants of the Sun" goodie.

Soon after its premiere, "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) became one of the top-rated Hallyu. However, the finale broke its own records. According to Nielson Korea, episode 16 aired on April 14 garnered 38.8 nationwide viewership rating. And the average rating for the 19-episode series was 28.6 percent.

Earlier in March, Soompi reported that "Descendants of the Sun" was sold to Japan for two billion approximately, with every episode at the $100,000 cost. According to the website, the show has revived the interest of Japanese broadcasters in Korean television dramas. In the past, there has been a decrease in interest in K-dramas in Japan. This is said to be the biggest deal after 10 years.

In additional news, a director's cut DVD will be made available to the public in the second half of this year. As noted by Asia One, the DVD will contain a "re-edited version of the last 16th episode" of "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS). It will also include deleted scenes, a music video and behind-the-camera scenes from the show.
