The "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams' character Arya Stark finally realized that her training in the House of Black and White was quite dull and frustrating. This forced her to get up and leave in episode 7 relieving millions of viewers who also believed the same since the very beginning.
Arya appeared again in the latest episode, "No One". The episode was named after her and her unfortunate situation to eliminate her identity as a warrior child in the form of a fierce Stark. She wanted to eradicate her identity to become an unforgiving assassin-for-hire.
Following the episode that aired on June 12, Sunday, Williams opened up about her character's fate on the show and the things that were planned for her. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she revealed how the chemistry between Arya and "The Waif'" differed behind the scenes, from what was obvious for the fans to see on the screen.
Ever since she was introduced in Season 5 of the show, The Waif has been seen as a bossy, vengeful and one of the most unpleasant characters on the show. Her Head Girl attitude continued to remain in the same in Season 6 well, in which she was after blind Arya to beat her with a stick.
However, the situation is not the same in real life. Williams explained how she and The Waif actress Faye Marsey behave pleasantly in front of each other. In fact, she described their combat training as a "healthy way to train."
"I've done some sword-fighting before. But she had to be better than me and every time she'd be getting right and I'd be getting it wrong. It was the healthy way to train," Williams told the publication.
While talking about her role, the 19-year-old actress revealed how director Mark Mylod wanted Arya's escape in episode 7 and the eventual chase in episode 8 to be more theatrical. However, it was Williams who kept saying that this was not Arya's style at all.
In fact, she believed that Arya would not want to spend extra energy on stunts when the only thing she wanted was to be safe. Williams wanted her character to look like she was actually struggling and not trying to be something of the superhuman nature.
Williams further said that Arya was never going to turn into a Faceless man. Instead, the youngest Stark was destined to return back home, according to The Telegraph.
"If everything hadn't happened she'd be home at Winterfell with her mum and dad," Williams explained. "She can't think like how they want her to because the whole reason she's there is that she wants to go back."
