On Thursday, the case has received international attention with Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President, criticizing the United States President Barack Obama, his Vice President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State John Kerry for not taking a stand about the incident.

"If you stay silent when faced with an incident like this, and don't make a statement, the world will stay silent toward you," the Turkish President shared with the people of Mexico during a visit.

Erdogan, a devout Muslim, has been revealing his personal opinion about the incident and interprets everything as a rising "Western Islamophobia". He also has strained relations with the US President brought about by the war in Syria.

On Wednesday, the White House said that it will wait for police investigation results before saying their piece on the matter.

Meanwhile, a Twitter campaign was launched in an attempt to draw the national media attention towards the tragedy. The #MuslimLivesMatter has attracted numerous supporters all throughout the globe, many of them are claiming that the incident is being ignored because the suspect's victims were Muslims.

"My daughter Yosur, the newlywed, told us two or three weeks ago that she felt that neighbor hated them for how they looked and who they were," Dr. Mohammad Yousif Abu-Salha, the father of the two victims told the Associated Press.
