Google Nexus lineup is expected to step up its superiority by embracing two new Nexus devices codenamed Sailfish (S1) and Marlin (M1). The new Nexus devices, which are currently not confirmed, will come with dominance in regards to specs and performance and will rival existing high-end phones including Google's own Nexus 6P.
The rumored specifications for Nexus S1 indicate that the device will become a successor of the current Nexus 5X 2015 while Nexus M1 will become Google's flagship smartphone. To compare the two devices with the legendary Nexus 6P, only rumored information can get relied on at this juncture.
According to Android Police, Google Nexus S1 will arrive with a 5-inch full HD screen, which when compared to Nexus 6P's very own, is not superior per se. Nexus 6P sports a big 5.7-inch AMOLED panel with a pixel density that pushes it to quad-HD resolution, further making it top-quality and a big rival of the upcoming device.
For the powerhouse of the Nexus S1, the manufacturer is not yet known, though, it is rumored that the phone will feature a 64-bit quad-core processor with a clock speed of 2GHz. The base model's RAM and internal memory will stand at 4GB and 32GB respectively, with superior variants expected to carry more storage.
Regarding the memory, Nexus 6P's 3GB of RAM will put it at a disadvantage in this department. However, a clear verdict cannot be proclaimed because a bigger RAM does not always translate to better performance. Mobile enthusiasts, on the other hand, still predict that Nexus S1 will outdo Nexus 6P in the powerhouse department.
In the camera field, Nexus S1 may lose although this excludes the tested performance. The device will have a 12-MP rear camera and a 5-MP front camera against 6P's 12.3-MP for the rear and 8-MP for the front. According to Trusted Reviews, Nexus 6P remains King when it comes to camera performance, and this might shake Nexus S1 in this field.
Other rumored features of the S1 include Bluetooth 4.2, bottom-facing speakers, 3.5mm audio jack and preloaded Android N. Regarding the price, speculations indicate that its base model will cost $399 against Nexus 6P's $499 for the 32GB variant.
Nexus S1 might, therefore, be cheaper and not up to snuff as expected. Nevertheless, Nexus fans have to wait for a fair comparison when more details are released.
