In an appearance on Mark Madden's podcast in Pittsburgh, Angle revealed that he had talks with Triple H about a possible return. However, the WWE refuted the claim by their former superstar via The Wrestling Observer.

The WWE is reportedly worried about Angle's past addictions to alcohol and pills, as well as his injury history. Nonetheless, the Olympian remained confident that he will return to the WWE and he revealed that it might happen next year.

"I had a talk with WWE. It's confidential. I will not be returning for the draft. Possibly in the future, most likely next year, but that is not a guarantee. It was a loose conversation but I will be in touch with Triple H in the future," Angle told Sports Illustrated in an interview.

The Wrestling Machine also mentioned that he will be sober for three years this July which could help his case on a possible return. He cited the working environment in TNA Wrestling as the cause for his addiction.

However, Angle also thanked TNA owner and president Dixie Carter for encouraging him to enter a rehabilitation facility. He was very grateful that he did as his family was getting bigger and they need him more than ever.

On the other hand, Angle's neck that has been broken five times throughout his career but he has not had any problems with it for the past ten years. He has to pass a medical with the WWE before wrestling for them again.

Nonetheless, the only thing that Angle needs from the WWE is closure after his release in 2006. He is a surefire WWE Hall of Famer. It will be interesting to see if he will get to wrestle again or act just a mentor for younger wrestlers.

Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are expected to be called up at the WWE draft for the brand extension. Their gimmick is identical to Team Angle that Angle managed in the early 2000s. It seems to be the perfect fit if ever he makes a return to WWE.
