The Washington-based tech giant is seemingly on a release-date-delay spree. Rumors are loud that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will not be released in 2017 and not this year, and so as the highly anticipated 2-in-1 device, Microsoft Surface Book 2. There are several reasons that may prove this postponement rumors.

One of the main causes is the desire of the tech company to make a seamless and close to faultless Microsoft Surface Book 2, Ecumenical News reported.  As the tech battleground gets tougher year-on-year, Microsoft is reportedly gearing up its Surface Book 2 to have the latest Intel chipset, which is called the Intel Kaby Lake. This is a boost to the upcoming hybrid device, as its predecessor Surface Book is equipped with Skylake Intel Core.

While the chipmaker giant has released no formal announcements yet, the Intel Kaby Lake, the successor of Skylake Intel Core processor, is reportedly slated for a 2017 release. This clearly means Surface Book 2 will not be release this year, but next year.

Rumors also suggest that Microsoft's Surface Pro 5, the Surface Book 2 is also waiting for the tech giant's biggest Windows 10 update, which is called Windows 10 Redstone 2 or RS2. This operating system updated will reportedly be released during the first quarter of 2017.

The updated Redstone 2 operating system will also bring improvements with the Surface Pen, a device that comes with the Surface Book 2. Microsoft's upcoming 2-in-1 device will also be armed with a 1 terabyte (TB) storage capacity, and a bigger 13.5 screen display.

Because of the new updates and better specifications, Surface Book 2 will reportedly be pricier than its predecessor.  While these reasons help prove the rumors that fans of Microsoft will be seeing Surface Book 2 next year and not sooner than expected, there is another speculation that is shaking up the internet.

According to BitBag, the latest promotional discounts on Surface Pro 4 prove that the launch of Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 is just around corner.  Surface Pro 4 256GB variant is now reportedly tagged for $1,049 from its original price of $1,299 during its initial release, while 128GB option is now on sale at $799.

Amidst these numerous rumors on Microsoft Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 5, Microsoft has kept mum and confirmed nothing as of the moment.
