"Skullgirls" will be ported to the mobile platforms later this year with new RPG and collectibles features. Hidden Variable Studios co-founder Charley Price said that he has always been a huge fan of the video game.

According to Polygon, it was thanks to the mobile game studio that Lab Zero Games' 2D fighting game was being ported to the iOS and Android mobile devices. The video game will not be a fighting game this time around, but it will be a role playing game with deck-building mechanics and collectible fighter variations.

Price said in a statement that it was a big opportunity for their studio to bring this video game, and its unique fighting mechanics to the mobile platform. He was proud to say that they have developed this mobile port for over the past two years already, and they were happy about the results, according to Kotaku. He thinks that the hardcore fans of the console version will love how they captured the gameplay of the fighting game and just made it a simpler, mobile-friendly version.

The developers said in a statement that players will be able to collect and customize different variations of the video game's cast like Silent Kill Valentine, Resonant Evil Big Band, and Primed Parasoul. Players will be able to change the characters' special moves that they have collected, and they can also upgrade them through RPG progression. The game also has a Fight Assist feature that allows players to have a tactical strategy when fighting against opponents.

This new upcoming mobile video game will tell the stories of each cast member of the game, and will revolve around the main game's story. It will also feature a season-based gameplay, and this first season will be the prequel to the console version of the game.

Lab Zero Games CEO Peter Bartholow said in a statement that they have seen different types of proposals to do a simple mobile puzzle game with the console game's elements, but they turned them down because it was not what the game was about. The mobile game developer's idea was better, which made them decide to go with it.

The developer of the mobile game version will be holding a closed beta test for the game soon. Interested testers can sign up for its testing phase, which has gone live recently.
