Microsoft is getting ready to unveil the Windows 10 Anniversary update next month with the Play Anywhere program in focus. Unfortunately this will include only select games that may not include the upcoming game Halo 6.
“Halo 6” is the next game that most gamers are looking forward to and for a fleeting moment, Microsoft drew raves for it. The hype died down when the company clarified that not all games will be available to the PC.
With the impending release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update next month, Microsoft explained that only the games seen at E3 would be included in the Play Anywhere Program according to Windows.com. For those who are not aware, Halo 6 was not around at the event. Only Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 have been confirmed so far and will be playable on the PC and Xbox One on a single digital purchase.
As far as Halo 6 is concerned, the PC version remains technically hanging. Phil Spencer however offers a bit of hope during his interview with PC Gamer, including a better explanation that the program is not merely about putting content on a game console and manipulate Windows gamers to buy an Xbox. Rather, he points out how the experience would be different though the final choice remains on the one behind the game pads or the keyboard.
Spencer technically left the door open for any Halo game to be released on the PC platform which somehow gives Halo 6 a fighting chance to be seen in the future. Being the latest installment, Halo 6 could be the only one. How about Halo 5?
Seeing that Halo 5 will soon be an old title, Spencer explains that Microsoft is not inclined to spend much time on PC versions of current games in the market. There is a chance that they could be available for PC though there is no telling at what level despite being a flagship franchise.
To date, there are 15 games that will be available under the Xbox Play Anywhere program with a chance to see Halo 6 among those titles. Until Microsoft makes it official, the fate of the game is technically afloat.
