According to Christian Today, the company rumored to be abandoning the MacBook Air altogether and replacing it with the iPad Pro 2 instead. With Apple's MacBook Pro getting an upgrade over the past couple of years, the company may be planning on focusing their attention on their other products.

Reports are also quick to point out that Apple CEO, Tim Cook, has been vocal on the company's priorities to upgrade the iPad Pro, stating that the tablet could be a better alternative to laptops and bulky desktop computers.

Meanwhile, since MacBook Air is a popular choice with most consumers due to its lower price range compared to other Apple laptops, the loss of the said Apple model could have an effect on Apple's target market.

According to Ecumenical News, there would be a lot of changes if Apple plans on upgrading their MacBook Air, as it is rumored that if an upgrade were to happen, it would include a new 5K resolution display. The company is also rumoured to ditch their current 11-inch MacBook Air model and replacing it with a slimmer 15-inch model.

Under the hood, the new MacBook Air is speculated to be sporting the AM Polaris 11 GPU, which would definitely help lengthen the devices' battery life. Reports have also speculated that Apple is planning to include a Touch ID feature to their MacBook Air line, as well as an OLED touch bar.

There are also speculations that Apple is planning to release their new MacBook Air by August. A source from a Chinese manufacturing company has confirmed that Apple has indeed ordered a couple of part presumably for their MacBook Air 2016 model.

As of now, there is no official word yet on whether Apple would be releasing their new MacBook Air 2016 models.
