"Chewbacca mom" Candace Payne, who became famous with her Facebook video laughing while wearing the Chewbacca mask, once again became viral as she spread a message of hope by singing Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" as a tribute to the police officers who died in the recent brutal shooting in Dallas.
Payne recorded said video on Saturday where she explained that she live 30 minutes from the area where the shooting occurred and that even if she had been spreading joy with her laughing Chewbacca video, she now feels sad and hurt and has been silent a couple of days because of the incident. She also said that she is "thousands of miles, hundreds of miles away from really identifying with every single ounce of pain that is being felt by the whole world right now," ABC11 reported.
The video titled "Make the World a Better Place" showed the serious side of Payne and has no doubt inspired millions of people around the globe as she played the piano. She sang, "Heal the world, Make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race."
Since its posting, the video already garnered over 2.6 million views and has been shared over 39,000 times. Many Facebook users expressed their appreciation to Payne's powerful version of the song and also agreed on its strong message. Some even said that they were moved to tears because of her touching arrangement of the song.
Following a protest in downtown Dallas, twelve officers were shot wherein five were killed and seven were left injured. The Black Lives Matter protest was a response to the death of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota on the hands of police officers, Today reported.
To recall, Payne also sang the national anthem during the Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners. Since her fame after her viral video, she was also given the opportunity to visit the Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, California, meet “The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams, join James Corden on a carpool, receive gifts from Chewbacca mask maker Hasbro and other privileges including appearances on numerous shows.
