Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines visited Cayman Islands from June 24 to 26. She was in Cayman, a British Overseas Territory, in celebration of Pinoy Pride Independence Month and for a meet and greet with Miss Cayman contestants.
According to Cayman Reporter, the reigning Miss Universe arrived in the Cayman Islands last June 24. Her first stop were courtesy calls to the Governor and the Premier. To honor her arrival, the Philippine flag was raised at the Government Administration Building beside the Cayman Islands flag and the Union Jack.
Later in the evening, Wurtzbach attended the Pinoy Pride Independence Month concert held at the Lions Center. She was seen with Filipina actress Bianca King and other special guests. The said event was an opportunity to the Filipinos in Cayman to see the beauty of a Filipino pride, according to Philippine news website Manila Bulletin.
On Saturday (June 25), Wurtzbach had a small gathering with the Miss Cayman Islands Committee. A meet and greet with Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks as well as next year's Miss Cayman Islands contestants were held at the Lobster Pot where she shared her experiences as Miss Universe.
According to the Miss Cayman Islands Committee Chairwoman Derri Dacres-Lee, Wurtzbach's served as a good opportunity for their title holders and pageant contestants.
"This is an amazing opportunity, as our current and past queens will attest to. In addition to finding out more about pageant experiences, I invite the public to come out and meet our Miss Cayman Islands and the reigning Miss Universe from the Philippines," she said in a report by Manila Bulletin.
In addition to the courtesy calls and meet and greet, Wurtzbach also went to see local attractions in Cayman Islands. She spent her time in George Town, Camana Bay and the Eastern Districts as well as visited Stingray City on Sunday (July 26), according to news website Cayman Compass.
Prior to visiting the islands, Wurtzbach went to Ecuador and Peru where she judged in their respective beauty pageants, one of her duties as reigning Miss Universe alongside continuing her advocacy to fight AIDS.
