In an interview with Radio Times, Turner stated that "Poldark" Season 2 will begin right where the first season left off.

"So it's a time when Ross and Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) have just lost their child, his company is down the pan, they're broke, and he's been arrested. It looks like he's going to prison. It's a cheery beginning!" Turner teased. With that said, the show's sophomore run will definitely not fall short on drama.

With Ross' arrest, things take a darker turn in "Poldark," as he will be facing trial for his role in the plunder of the Warleggans' wrecked ship, and if found guilty, he could be executed.

Speaking of drama, a love triangle might blossom in "Poldark" Season 2, as Ross is torn between his wife Demelza and his ex-fiancé Elizabeth. According to the Daily Star, Turner revealed that "love is a very complex thing" in "Poldark" Season 2. "It is so deep and there are so many layers," Turner added.

Moreover, "Poldark" Season 2's plot will be set in 1794, at the time of the French revolution and its effect on Cornwall. Among the new "Poldark" cast members include "Midsomer Murders" actor John Nettles, who will play a rich landowner. Known socialite Gabrillea Wilde will also join the series as Caroline Penvenen, who is the love interest of MP Unwil Trevaunance.

Interestingly, female fans will get to see a lot more scything from Turner in "Poldark" Season 2. It can be recalled that the 33-year-old actor sent hearts fluttering when he appeared bare-chested in all his chiseled glory in the first season.

The "Poldark" Season 2 plot is based on the third and fourth novels in the 12-part book series written by Winston Graham.

Meanwhile, "Poldark" Season 3 has been confirmed by BBC and is set to be released in 2017.
