It was not so long ago when the contemporary crime drama series, "Longmire," ended its fourth season. Since the series is already renewed for a fifth installment, recent news points out that "Longmire" Season 5 could be the last season of the series.
According to Vine Report, "Longmire" Season 5 may be the final one of the franchise. Although the report did not clarify the real reason why numerous speculations are surfacing in relation to the possible ending of the western thriller show, the report did note the factors why "Longmire" got cancelled on its original network, A & E, after airing for three seasons.
It was said that "Longmire" was not renewed by A & E due to the reason that the network sees the series as incompatible to the network's target audience. The publication cited that the network is aiming for younger viewers, and that "Longmire" only appeals to older people.
In addition, the same publication also cited why Netflix acquired "Longmire," despite of it being cancelled by A & E. It was said that the fans of the series do not want to give up their favorite show, which is why they launch a campaign or petition just to renew "Longmire" even on another network. Luckily for the fans, Netflix decided to continue the series.
On the other hand, one of the stars of the series, Lou Diamond Phillips, may have confirmed that "Longmire" will still have a sixth installment despite of the loud rumors that "Longmire" Season 5 will be its last, Game N Guide reported. According to a post of the actor on his social media account, he confirmed that the production of "Longmire" Season 5 is already done, and that he is excited to do "Longmire" Season 6.
To wrap this up, Netflix has not officially released a statement relating to a possible sixth season, or if "Longmire" Season 5 is going to be the last run of the franchise.
