That scene in "Pretty Woman" when Julia Roberts' character gets ignored by a condescending sales associate because she did not look sophisticated enough happens in real life, according to "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker Miley Cyrus.
"You've seen 'Pretty Woman' obviously. Well, they are actually like that," Cyrus told the Daily Telegraph referring to the high-end sales associates. "If you walk in, they give you the worst look you've ever seen and I am too outspoken to deal with those kinds of people."
While she admits to being too outspoken, Cyrus is still Billy Ray Cyrus's daughter with a soft side. During the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards, she made headlines after letting her date Jesse Helt, a homeless man, pick up her award.
"I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost, and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these people," Helt said accepting Cyrus' Video of the Year award for "Wrecking Ball."
Cyrus met Helt through the homeless center in Hollywood called My Friend's Place.
It turned out, however, that as a minor, Helt was arrested by Salem police three times for offenses related to possession of marijuana, tobacco products and liquor, court records revealed.
As soon as the news about Helt's criminal record broke, Cyrus immediately took to Twitter to defend Helt with a series of tweets.
"People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included," she wrote.
"The media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness," she also tweeted.
