"Scandal" Season 6 is not the last for the show after rumors came out the recent week that the upcoming season will be the final of the hit fixer drama series. Shonda Rhimes was quick to address that the speculations have no basis at all.

Rumors that "Scandal" Season 6 will be the final of the TV series started as a confusion from "Good Morning America" host Lara Spencer. During a segment on "GMA," Spencer shared a social media post of the "Scandal" cast and crew starting their production for the upcoming season. She wrote that sadly, it would be the final season of the series while misquoting that Rhimes revealed the cancellation.

Rhimes did not waste time correcting the false rumors that Season 6 will be its final season on her Twitter. After her tweet, Spencer made her way to apologize on air for her misinterpretation.

Spencer explained that Rhimes told her that she has an ending in mind. However, it was not made clear that the ending is not happening anytime soon. Everything ended well between Rhimes and Spencer as both parties were able to air their side, according to People.

As "Scandal" Season 6 episode 1 filming has started, cast are all excited to share some updates on the social media. Some of the cast shared their first look on the set.

Executive producer Tom Verica will be directing the premiere episode. The storyline is still unknown and is expected to be released after its first promo.


As the production of "Scandal" Season 6 has begun, some of the cast gushed about its lead star Kerry Washington. Washington is currently on the way with her second child, but she makes it a point that she balances everything between personal life and work.

"She's just a formidable human being who is very committed both to her family and her job and makes it work," Bellamy Young told E! News. Tony Goldwyn also praised her onscreen partner on how amazing mother she is because she is very passionate about being a mother.

Washington is married to Nnamdi Asomugha. They share one daughter Isabelle, who is now 2 years old. "Scandal" Season 6 episode 1, written by Shonda Rhimes is titled "Survival Of The Fittest. It is slated for a 2017 release.
