Instagram is planning to roll out a new feature to help filter out the trolls and haters from commenting on a user's photos or videos plus an option to turn off comments completely.

It is no secret that famous Instagram users or personalities often get comments from trolls or haters who have nothing to do but to stalk their posts all day. Unfortunately, users do not really have much of an option when it comes to filtering out comments until now.

The photo sharing giant owned by Facebook is plantning to give users the capability to filter out the comments they receive on their photos and videos. Instagram announced that they will roll out the comment filter option soon for all users across the globe, the Washington Post has learned.

Nicky Jackson Colaco, Instagram Head of Public Policy, said that they are already gradually rolling out the feature for accounts that have "high volume comment threads." Unfortunately, Colaco did not disclose whose accounts they have already given the feature to.

Instagram also declined to comment on the issue regarding how Taylor Swift filtered out some comments during the brief argument between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The popular singer could be one of the lucky ones to have the feature ahead of time even before the Facebook-owned company announced that it would come.

Users will soon be able to filter out comments through custom keywords on their Instagram posts, CNET reported. The feature will also allow users to turn the comments section of their posts completely so that they would not have to deal with the stress of reading through them at all.

There is no disclosed date or estimation on when the feature will be rolled out for all Instagram users. However, it is expected that the rollout will be gradual and could still take several months as more prominent accounts are still testing the new feature.

For now, the average Instagram user would just have to shake it off if there are any negative comments on their photos and videos. Instagram may make an announcement soon regarding the availability of the new comment filtering feature.
