Among the new Pokémon featured, grass type mantis-based Pokémon Formantis and Lurantis were spotted, App Trigger reported. Aside from these two grass types, Minior, the primary form of Mudsdale was also recognized from the trailer.

Other than these new Pokémon, several old ones were introduced with new forms. Among this group includes ice-type Vulpix and Sandshrew, and palm tree Exeggutor. Charizard, Lapras, Sharpedo and Mudsdale were also featured in the trailer, the report added.

Aside from new features and new Pokémon, the trailer also hinted on "Z Powers" which would allow players to conduct one super powerful attack each battle differing for every Pokémon type. The said attack is a combined power of a Pokémon and its trainer, VG 24/7 reported.

The new type of challenge called "Island Challenges" may also stir curiosity among players as it may be replacing the gym challenge of the previous versions. However, not much details about this one were laid in the trailer.

In a statement released by the official Pokémon website, it said, "One aspect of the unique culture that has developed in the Alola region is the island challenge, an adventurous ride that involves travelling through each of the four islands. This event helps young people grow into fine Pokémon trainers. As the main character of 'Pokémon Sun and Moon' you are destined to attempt this island challenge." Basing from this announcement, it may be possible the gym challenges will be replaced in the upcoming game.

Aside from these changes, new starter Pokémon was also revealed which includes Rowlet, Little and Popplio and a captain leading each island included in the Alola region. "Pokémon Sun and Moon" is slated for release on November 18 for Nintendo 3DS.
