Are Kala and Wolfgang endgame in "Sense8" Season 2? A photo posted on the show's official Instagram page raised speculation that the romantic relationship that blossomed between the two sensates in the first season will not move forward in the second.
In "Sense8" Season 1, Kala (Tina Desai) was engaged to Rajan (Purab Kohli). The prospect of marriage wasn't at all exciting for Kala, but she proceeded with the engagement to please her parents and make her family happy. When she was connected to fellow sensate Wolfgang (Max Riemelt), it was evident that sparks flew between them and they soon began developing romantic feelings for each other.
"Sense8" Season 2 may feel very different for Kala-Wolfang shippers. In an official photo released through the show's Instagram account, Rajan was seen carrying Kala and the two looked at the each other very lovingly. Coincidentally, it was reported that Kohli will have an extended role in the series, which makes it possible for his character and Kala to spend more time together in "Sense8" Season 2.
But where does this leave Wolfgang? According to Riemelt, Wolfang will explore a "new landscape" that he has to find his new position within. Speaking to Buzzfeed, he revealed that he's trying to "find purpose again in living" and stay in power at the same time. Basically, this indicates that Wolfgang is not in a very good place in "Sense8" Season 2, and is faced with darker characters that oppose him.
As for Kala, while the teaser photo suggests that she's finally learned to accept her engagement, marriage is still not quite a sure thing for the character. By the end of the first season, Kala made a valuable contribution to the group through her scientific knowledge. It is presumed that more of this will be explored in "Sense8" Season 2, and that she will be portrayed as a smart woman brilliant in the sciences, instead of being a woman forced to meet the expectations of tradition and society.
In the meantime, it has been revealed that more sensates will probably be introduced in the beginning of "Sense8" Season 2. In an interview with Gold Derby, creator Michael J Straczynski said that the original 8 sensates will discover other clusters as they broaden out their reach to the rest of the world.
"Now we begin to find out the mythology behind what it is to be a sensate. Are there others? Where do we come from?" Straczynski said. "Why are they perceived to be a threat? So really the second season is about providing a lot of answers to the questions that viewers had after seeing the first season."
The first episode of "Sense8" Season 2 is expected to premiere this December on Netflix.
