The CW surprised everyone when it announced that "Harry Potter" alum Tom Felton is joining "The Flash" Season 3 as a series regular. Given the confirmed "Flashpoint" arc, there are really a lot of possibilities waiting to happen in the new season, and that includes an interesting storyline for Felton.

Felton will take on the role of Julian Dorn, the new CSI at the Central City Police Department and a new workmate to Grant Gustin's Barry Allen. There's a cloud, however, on Julian's personality as he appears to be very suspicious about Barry's identity.

The 28-year-old British actor was formally introduced as the new member of "The Flash" family at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, where he joined the panel together with the original cast members.

"It's always very nerve-racking when you're joining such a well-oiled machine," Felton said in an interview with ET Online. "But I've only been around them for less than a few days, and I already feel like part of the family."

As to the character he's playing, he also revealed that there's definitely friction between Julian and Barry. Gustin added that the characters in "The Flash" Season 3 exist now "because of Flashpoint that wouldn't have been there otherwise... one of which is Tom's character."

What's certain is that Julian did not exist in the prime Earth-1 timeline that we saw in the first two seasons of the show. In the "Flashpoint" arc, Barry basically makes it his mission to revert things back to the way they were, and this plan might not be agreeable for Julian.

As this Dorn character does not have any precedent, there's a theory that he might actually be Barry's twin, who eventually becomes villain Cobalt Blue in "The Flash" Season 3. According to Movie Pilot, Cobalt Blue is known to be a twin of Barry, but they were separated at the time of their birth. When Charlene Thawne's baby died due to a mistake made by the doctor, the doctor switched the dead Thawne baby with Barry's twin to patch up the error.

Interestingly, Felton matches the description of Barry Allen in the comic books, who is described a thin, blonde guy with blue eyes. Given the fact that Blue Cobalt is Barry's twin, the similarities should be striking.

"The Flash" Season 3 will air on Oct. 4 on The CW.
