The WWE has opened up a lot of opportunities for its superstars when the brand extension was made official last month. However, the latest rumors imply that two former WWE champions are unhappy with their position in the company. Could they ask for their early release just like superstars Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes?

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Sheamus revealed that he is disappointed with the direction of his character in the WWE. He noted that he was WWE champion seven months ago but he has since plummeted down in the card.

"I was so excited to be the sixth round draft pick after being WWE Champion seven months ago, it's amazing," Sheamus said sarcastically.

The Celtic Warrior knows his job at the moment is to put over younger stars and he was upset that his storyline with Apollo Crews did not pan out. He also mentioned that he wants to have a future program with stars such as Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

If Sheamus' WWE career comes to a close, he is very open to doing more live-action and animation films. He recently starred as Rocksteady in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" and "Scooby Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon."

On the other hand, Alberto Del Rio is also unhappy with the WWE and he could be leaving soon. His contract will expire in October and he might not re-sign if he is not given a push, Daily Wrestling News reported.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is rumored to be a backer of Del Rio and he wanted to give him a push before the WWE Draft. However, Triple H dislikes Del Rio and talked his father-in-law to not granting the Mexican superstar the push he wanted.

It is a very interesting time for the WWE because of the "New Era" and they need veteran superstars to put over younger talents. Having Sheamus and Del Rio is important but both stars need to set aside their egos to make it work.

The Irish superstar seems to be very open in putting over NXT stars unlike Del Rio. Nevertheless, the WWE needs more talent like him, who puts the best interest of the company first.
