"Supernatural" is the longest-running show in the history of The CW and Warner Bros. as it has been renewed for season 12, but no end seems to be in sight. It could have more seasons because it has still a lot of terrific creative appeal left in it.

It is the admission of The CW chief Mark Pedowitz, Entertainment Weekly claimed. During the Television Critics Associations' press tour, Pedowitz said that Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles seem very happy to him and he is thrilled with the creative direction of the show. According to him, the show is terrific in terms of creativity and if the ratings hold, it could outlast his tenure as chief of the CW.

Talking about the spinoff possibility, he said that it is still alive and very much a priority. He added that it just has not happened and he has left the decision to the studio. However, when they are ready for it, he would be glad to develop it with the team. Notably, the show tried a spinoff in the ninth season titled "Supernatural: Bloodlines" with the plot revolving around a group of supernatural crime families in Chicago, but it did not receive much attention and failed to live up to the expectations of the network.

After that, no other attempt was made and the spinoff still remains a hot topic of discussion among fans. Since no credible news has come out, fans better focus on what lies ahead and it looks like the thriller-drama will have a rocking season 12.

It will see Rick Springfield taking over the role of Lucifer from Mark Pellegrino and Samantha Smith returning as Mama Mary Winchester, TV Series Finale reported. Also, Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb have taken the reins of showrunners. There is also speculation that the show might come to an end with Season 13.

It may be mentioned here that before "Supernatural" became the longest-running show on CW/WB, the record stood with "7th Heaven," which enjoyed an 11-year run. "Supernatural" Season 12 returns to The CW on October 13, 2016 at 9 p.m.
