China got its seventh gold medal in diving on Thursday at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics with the victory of 15-year-old Ren Qian at the 10-meter event.

Ren got 439.25 points, followed by another Chinese diver, 17-year-old Si Yajie, who got 419.40 points. The bronze medal went to Meaghan Benfeito of Canada with 389.20 points, reported NBCOlympics.

With her gold medal, Ren is the fourth youngest to top the women’s individual 10-meter dive and the only one to tally more than 90 points on a single dive. She was ensured of the gold medal when she got several 10s – the only ones given in the 10-meter dive during the first pass. On the second pass, Ren scored 94.05 on the third dive and 91.20 on each of her final dives.

American diver Jessica Parrato scored only 334.60 points and finished 10th because of several miscalculated dives in the final although she had clean, ripped entries on all attempts during the first two rounds. She was on third place during the first two dives, but placed third in the preliminary and second in the semifinal, even ahead of Ren.

Because it was the first time for Parratto to reach the final of an international competition, although she reached the semifinals thrice, the American diver considers it a huge thing even as she acknowledged that her Chinese competitors were amazing and flawless.

There is only one remaining diving event in Rio, the men’s 10-meter platform. If China gets the gold medal here, it would be a clean sweep of all the eight diving events. However, according to NBC, it is Britain’s Tom Daley who is leading with 571.85 points after he got 103.60 with his forward 4 ½ somersaults in the fourth round. Chinese divers Qui Bo and Chen Aisen came in second and third spots with scores of 564.75 and 545.35, respectively.
