Microsoft Surface Pro fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Microsoft Surface Pro 5, something that is attributed to the success of its precursor. Latest rumors suggest that the upcoming laptop will be released sometime in late 2016 or early next year.
Microsoft is mum about the upcoming device, but fans are already speculating on some of the features expected. It is rumored that the device will come out in two variants - a 2K screen resolution base model and a 4K screen high-end model.
With regard to the specs, it is believed that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will release with Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor, according to The Country Caller. The tech giant is waiting for the processor to be available in the market. As a result, a late 2016 release date for the Surface pro 5 is unlikely.
Further rumors have it that the Surface Pro 5 will run on Windows' next operating system, the Redstone 2, which is currently under development and it is expected to come out sometime next in 2017, according to PC Advisor. Both the Redstone 2 and Kaby Lake processor could be the reason why the Surface Pro 5 will be delayed.
In case rumors turn out to be true, fans should expect to see a boost in the performance for the Surface Pro 5. In addition, there are speculations that the upcoming laptop might be packed with either NVIDIA Pascal or AMD Polaris GPU. The Surface Pro 5 will not only be faster in performance, but also sport a more impressive graphical display.
Other features for the upcoming device include a 16 GB of RAM, Surface Pen integration, and USB Type-C ports. It will be easier for users to multi-task because of the RAM capacity, something that make the Surface Pro 5 unique.
When it come to pricing, it is speculated that the base model will come with a $899 price tag, while the high-end variant will cost $1599. Microsoft is yet to confirm any of these rumors, and therefore everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
