Ever since "The Walking Dead" aired its Season 6 finale back in April, fans everywhere have been speculating about who got the face full of baseball bat and who did Negan kill. Negan himself was not too particular about who he killed to make an example for Rick and Co., so it has been hard to lay odds on which character has bitten the dust.

The AMC zombie series had episodes worth of buildup and a continuous monologue, the series' new villain (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) swung his baseball bat, Lucille and struck a fatal hit against some regular crew member.

The cast member who died, of course, remains a closely held secret and will remain so until the series returns for its Season 7 in October. This will remain the same despite some various clues from interviews and other sources in the months since, Screen Rant reported.

Well, fans should not accept only one death as there might be more than one to come in this post-apocalyptic series that has been shying about killing off series regulars.

Meanwhile, "The Walking dead" executive producer, Greg Nicotero, during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, noted the "deaths," as in plural, he was talking about the cliffhanger.

In the interview, Nicotero might have slipped a bit and unveiled that more than one main crew will die in the Season 7 premiere. He also described the significant lengths the tea has gone to protect the cliffhanger, EW reported.

When Nicotero was asked in the interview whether he is troubled by fan criticism of the cliffhanger, he stood by the choice and claimed that the moments all will see in the coming episode of "The Walking Dead" will send a message to the fans which would have fallen flat premiere would have been underutilized if they had come before the off-season.

He added, "If we would have highlighted the deaths, then the fans would not have felt our characters in season 7, the way they need to feel."

It certainly look like Nicotero is implying that a number of characters will die in "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiere. Is this a slip of the tongue, and will Nicotero get in trouble, fans are worried.

In addition, the multiple-deaths theory might go against all of the hype and marketing that the series has done for the last six months, which has indicated that there is one and only one death.

According to Comic Book, earlier this summer, the most popular "Walking Dead" spoiler group, The Spoiling Dead Fans, argued that Negan killed not one, but two members of Rick's group before the iconic introduction part ended, this prompted a lawsuit from AMC.

The claim was based on the fact that a pair of actors had not been seen on set since the wrap of the premiere's production.

Therefore, Nicotero's statement only seems to back the theory.

Fans will see who the victim(s) are when "The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9 PM ET.
