After the "Scream" Season 2 finale ended mid-August, fans just could not wait if the MTV TV series adaptation of the hit horror film franchise is pushing for another season. Despite a supportive fan base, "Scream" Season 3 still has no green light from MTV.

Fans are asking whether "Scream" Season 3 is cancelled or renewed as MTV has not yet announced a plan for the next season. The network only confirmed a two-hour Halloween "Scream" special in October that aims to put an end to the questions in the previous season's finale. However, although fans are getting nervous about a possible cancellation of the TV series, showrunner Michael Gans teased a possibility of the next season.

"It's hard to talk about, because there's so much we can't say about the future," Gans told TV Line. "One of those things, of course, is how Kieran will continue. But he is alive and in prison!"

An earlier teaser from "Scream" official Twitter page seems to give a hint that it has not yet closed its doors for "Scream" Season 3. The show will pick where it left off in the season 2 finale.

As of this moment, MTV has no official statement yet about the fate of the show. An online petition to renew the show on Change.Org has collected 3,515 supporters against its target of 5,000. Despite the network receiving floods of online request to renew the show, it only made certain that it is coming up with the Spooky Special Sneak Peek.

"Scream" Season 3 cancellation news started after the Season 2 finale wrapped up without MTV signaling an order for a new season. Season 1 got an average rating of 0.34 with 750,000 viewers while Season 2 had an average rating of 0.19 in the demo and 380,000 viewers. With the plummeting ratings it seems the show will not be renewed by MTV, according to TV Series Finale.

While waiting for the network's decision on the show's renewal, fans could catch Season 2 on Netflix starting Sept. 30. check out the teaser of the Spooky Special Sneak Peek:
