"Supernatural" Season 12 will see Mary and angel Castiel sharing a special bond. The return of Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester's (Jensen Ackles) mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), will be a challenge for each one as her longtime secrets are waiting to be unwrapped the next season.
Coming off his battle after Castiel (Misha Collins) became Lucifer's vessel, the angel will be taking the spotlight in "Supernatural" Season 12. An earlier announcement of showrunner Andrew Dabb tells that the new season will be exploring his past and his relationship with the Winchester brothers. Castiel will be seen forming a special link with Mary that was built on common grounds that they are both outsiders.
"He and Mary have a connection," showrunner Andrew Dabb told TVLine. "It's not a romantic one, but they have a lot in common. They're both strangers in a strange land, in a way."
When "Supernatural" Season 12 returns, Castiel will be showing a different side as he hunts for Lucifer. He feels responsible for his release, and now he will be tracking him to bring him down. He will stay as loyal as ever to guard Sam and Dean over their adversities.
The opening of Season 12 will see the return of Sam after he was abducted by the British Men of Letters, headed by Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore). He will be rescued by Dean, Mary and Castiel.
The Winchester brothers will be facing more enemies, including Lucifer (Rick Springfield), the two demons Crowley (Mark Sheppard) and Ruby (Katie Casiddy) and Hitler in "Supernatural" Season 12. Viewers will also see the face-off between Crowley and Lucifer after the latter dethroned him.
Upon the reunion of Mary, Sam and Dean, the brothers will be amazed that their mother still has the hunting skills that she had during her younger years. Mary will make it clear to her two sons that hunting is not what she wishes for them to do, according to Variety. However, they will find out that their hunting skills originally came from Mary's family and not from their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
"Supernatural" Season 12 welcomes new cast Kara Royster, who will be playing the role of Alicia and also a hunter. The fantasy/ horror television series will return on Oct.13 at 9|8c on The CW. Check out the next season's promo video:
