Two years since GoPro Hero 4 silver and black were released, many speculations have quickly build up surrounding the upcoming GoPro action camera. Previous rumors highlighted the diving capability and the voice command that are likely to feature in new GoPro Hero 5. This would be recorded as first GoPro Hero to have a waterproof body with no case needed to go down deep into the water.

Much rumors now point to a release together with or after the Karma drone in the GoPro event which starts at 9am PT today, Sept. 19 and is expected to last around 45 minutes. That means fans in the United Kingdom will be able to tune in at 5 p.m. and midday on the East Coast of America, according to Pocket Lint.

The collective best speculations is that it will go on sale in time for Christmas this year, as missing the biggest sales period of the year is unlikely to go down well with GoPro's shareholders. As the Hero 5 is highly expected to be compatible with the drone, it would be surprising if the camera was not launched at the same time as the Karma.

The GoPro launch event will be live on the main gopro.com website, fan should be ready to watch the Karma and hopefully Hero 5 launch. The GoPro Hero 5 is rumored to cost somewhere between $450 and $550 though the company has not confirmed anything about the action camera. This could be the same £409.99 as the Hero 4 Black, reviewed.

According to PC Advisor, although the flagship model might be the first to launch, there is bound to be other Hero 5 models in the range which are cheaper. Fans expect to see a Hero 5 Black, Hero 5 Silver and a plain Hero 5. In addition, GoPro may even update the Hero Session, reviewed, with better specs for a 'cheap' option in the range, or simply keep the current camera as it is.

While GoPro Inc keeps GoPro Hero 5 release and specs under its tight wraps, a statement from Nicholas Woodman, the CEO at the investor event reports a new device release in 'the fourth quarter of 2016'. According to an analyst at Gap Intelligence, GoPro Hero 5 will be categorized as new and it could be the most significant ever to be revealed.

Other rumors say that the Hero 5 will be waterproof down to 60m without an additional housing with a GPS radio in the new Hero. Other action cams already have GPS, and it could be used to overlay data such as speed, heading and position to the video.

The new GoPro is expected to have improvements Image quality, and rumors say it will be capable of recording 8K video and have a fast Qualcomm processor. Lastly, various reports alleged that the Hero 5 will pack a 2800mAh battery which has 150 percent more capacity than the Hero 4. Battery life is an issue for many owners, especially when using Wi-Fi.
