The upcoming tvN series "The K2" will feature the on-screen pairing of Girls Generation group member YoonA and Ji Chang Wook. The drama's latest teasers have provided fans a look at its intense action scenes, as well as the emotional moments between the two Korean stars' respective characters.
tvN has been releasing several teasers to promote its upcoming bodyguard drama "The K2." Some of the promo clips have displayed the action scenes between the "Healer" actor Ji and other cast members. The drama's fight scenes are a combination of several martial arts moves, according to Soompi.
Apart from Korea's Taekwondo, the said action scenes included some fighting moves from Brazil's Jiu-jitsu, Japan's Aikido and the Systema combat style from Russia. Similar to other action suspense dramas, the upcoming tvN series will also feature a few exciting car chase scenes, as well as some explosive moments.
"The K2" drama has been described as a mini-action movie given its elaborate fight scenes and suspenseful storyline. The upcoming tvN series is also said to be the first Korean drama to use the same "time slice photography" technique that many viewers have seen in the famous Hollywood "Matrix" movies, as indicated in the same report.
Meanwhile, a separate teaser clip released by tvN has displayed cast member YoonA's acting abilities. The said clip showed the Girls Generation group member fully immersed in her role as she screamed at Ji's character to shoot a woman. Another scene in the said clip also featured a calmer and serious looking YoonA as she instructed Ji's character to keep himself safe and alive.
Some viewers may be taken by surprise with the Girls Generation group member's portrayal of her "The K2" character. In an earlier statement released by SM Entertainment, YoonA's agency teased that fans will see a new image of the singer in the upcoming tvN drama, All Kpop reported.
YoonA will portray the character Go Ahn Na, a reclusive young woman with a traumatic past who is the secret daughter of a presidential candidate. The singer's co-star Ji will play the former mercenary soldier turned bodyguard named Kim Je Ha.
"The K2" will premiere on Sept. 23, Friday, on tvN.
