The Nexus 5X is among the first Samsung devices to get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, some users have complained that they are experiencing a bootloop issue as a result of the update.
Android N, now named Android 7.0 Nougat, is available for selected Nexus smartphones and tablets, and later this year, the OS will land for devices from popular Android manufacturers such as LG, HTC and Samsung.
The next three quarterly maintenance releases of Android Nougat will be Android 7.1 / 7.1.1 / 7.1.2

The Nexus 5X owners who received Android 7.0 Nougat update have started facing random reboot issue after installing the update. Such users are complaining online about the bootloop issue, Android Police reported.
One of the Nexus 5X owner complained that creating a cache partition or trying to factory reset the device does not work out. "I did factory data reset and wiped system cache partition. The device turns off or restarts frequently with no consistent pattern. It does not even turn on sometimes when it is off."
Orrin, a Google employee, acknowledged that a small number of Nexus 5X owners are facing the problem which is related to the phone's hardware. He went ahead and assured the users that the company is investigating the problem.
Those who are currently experiencing the issue should contact the place of purchase for warranty or repair options. According to Google Store Help webpage, those who bought the LG made Nexus 5X from the Google Store can contact the company for exchange, repair or refund options. "If you bought your phone directly from Project Fi, call 1-844-Talk-2-Fi for details about exchanges, refunds, or repairs," says Google.
If they did not purchase their Nexus 5X on the Google Store, they should visit the LG website at www.lg.com. They may be covered by LG's limited manufacturer's warranty.
Google released the Nexus 5X in September 2015 and the device was availed from October onward. The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, which were launched at the same time, were the first smartphones to come running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The latest Android 7.0 Nougat software is the first major update to the device. Nexus 5X customers were hoping to experience new features with Android 7.0 Nougat but the bootloop challange has left them disappointed.
Meanwhile, in its Nougat announcement, Google noted that it has already started working on the first Nougat maintenance launch, The Verge reported. The company noted that the update will bring "continued refinements and polish," and that it will release a beta version this fall ahead of a great release.
Android 7.1 will presumably be the first major update for Nougat and its launch could be timed with the purported HTC-made Pixel phones. The Android 7.1 Nougat update is expected to arrive sometime after Oct. 4, the launch date for Google's new Pixel phones. The Pixel phones will reportedly take over flagship duties from the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.
When the final Android 7.1 Nougat release arrives this fall, users should not be surprised if companies such as Samsung opt to roll out the newer version instead, similar to what it did with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
