Since “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki is the most searched Korean celebrity, according to a recent Google Trends analysis, it is not surprising that he too is the most influential person in the Korean entertainment industry.

The basis of that is a ranking of 150 people from production, film and music by asking netizens to use the numbers 1 to 5, after which people vote on those names on the list. It was compiled by The Daily Sports to mark the newspaper’s 47th anniversary, reported The Korean Herald.

Because of the big splash that “Descendants of the Sun” made on Asian television history this 2016, it is not surprising that the top 2 spots were held by people from the show. Song Joong-ki was first place with 318 points. He was followed by Kim Eun-suk, the writer and developer of the 16-episode Hallyu drama.

In third place is Yoo Jae-suk, a comedian, followed by Na Young-seok from the TV shows “2 Days & 1 Night” and “Grandpas Over Flowers,” in fourth place. In seventh place is Lee Soo-man, founder of S.M. Entertainment, and in ninth place is G-Dragon.

Likely because of his popularity immensely boosted by “Descendants of the Sun,” speculation continue to swirl that the 31-year-old actor would join Gong Yong in "Train to Busan 2," reported Newseveryday. Among the possible roles for Song Joong-ki is as a zombie or a military officer similar to his role in the KBS 2TV drama.
