A Halloween-themed mission awaits avid fans of Electronic Arts' (EA) life simulation game "The Sims 4." Recently, EA unveiled the new "Day of the Dead" challenge where players can unlock a special interaction with the game's Grim Reaper.

The gaming world of "The Sims 4" is about to get spooky with EA's new "Day of the Dead" challenge. Jasmine Holiday, a non-playable character (NPC), is set return to the Sims' world to jumpstart the new holiday challenge, according to a statement posted on "The Sims" website. The said NPC will start appearing around the various in-game locations on Oct. 4, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. PT.

Gamers can have their Sim characters interact with Holiday to gain the Sugar Skull Display Case, a necessary item for the "Day of the Dead" challenge. Similar to some of the previous "The Sims 4" in-game challenges, players are tasked to collect different sugar skulls to fill up the special nine-piece display case. Once the collection is complete, a golden sugar skull will be unlocked including the new Grim Reaper interaction named "Honor the Dead."

Apart from the two new gameplay features, completing the "Day of the Dead" challenge will also provide Sim characters with a time-limited Halloween-themed moodlet. The said moodlet will allow Sims to gain more relationship points with the Grim Reaper. The chances of a successful plea request to extend the life of another Sim who just died will also be higher.

EA also mentioned that the new "Honor the Dead" interaction will remain as one of the standard gameplay features for "The Sims 4." Even if players would be unable to complete the sugar skull collection, the said interaction will be available to everyone once the in-game challenge period ends on Nov. 4.

A "Day of the Dead" challenge guide shared by the fansite SimsVIP also unveiled some gaming tips to collect the new sugar skulls. Special random NPCs, called "Day of the Dead celebrators," will be giving out sugar skulls to Sim characters who will interact with them.

To spawn the said NPCs into the game, players should have their Sim character visit a tombstone at night and choose the "Leave Sugar Skull Offering" option. Gamers would then need to do several chat interactions with the said NPCs before the "Ask for Sugar Skull" option will appear. The process should be repeated to various "Day of the Dead celebrators" until the nine-piece sugar skull collection is complete.
