"League of Legends" Pro was suspended, and fined for verbal abuse against other players. Pro explained that his ability to communicate in English is poor, which led to this issue.
According to the official website of the game, Riot has announced a ruling that has suspended pro player Hankil "Road" Yoon for one match. He will also be fined a hefty $2,000. This happened after it was discovered that the Pro had been verbally abusing the other players during the game.
Road would verbally abuse other players, while solo-queuing for ranked matches to practice. The suspensions leaves the I May team in a rough situation, since they will be competing later for a "League of Legends" World Championship.
Riot revealed that in Sept 19, Road used racially insensitive language to abuse a player during a game on the Korean server. It was found out that he was verbally abusive towards his teammates in Ranked play going back as late as August, and as recently on Oct. 5. He was also punished due to the instance of a racially-insensitive rhetoric.
According to the official website of Reddit, Road's behavior was discovered due to a post on the website. It showed a screenshot that was proof to his rude verbal abuse against another player Echo Fox's Henrik "Froggen" Hansen. Froggen always got killed by the opposing team, which resulted in Road spamming the chat with the phrase go die.
Road tried to explain his rude behavior after he was exposed. He said that the words he wrote to the Pro were not telling him to go die literally. He wrote that because that player had so many deaths when he goes to the mid area of the map.
Road explained that he could not communicate in English very well, which is why he said it in that way. He apologized for the problems that have arisen and any trouble it has caused to his coach and team during the tournament. He still denies that he had actually told Froggen to kill himself.
During an investigation, Riot found out that there were several other instances of apparent abuse, which also included racist remarks. It was found out the he verbally attacked a teammate using racially insensitive language and he did it twice. He violated sections 9.2.4 and 9.2.7 of the rules governing professional "League of Legends" play.
Riot clarified that they will not delay the punishment because it was done before the tournament. They said that the Pros should be models of good behavior all year round. They also said that the tournament should not be an excuse to tolerate negative actions.
