It was just recently that "Making a Murderer" Steven Avery's engagement to Lynn Hartman made headlines. However, this week, a formal letter made by Avery's attorney Kathleen Zellner came out, stating that Avery is cancelling his engagement to Hartman.

The former fan started seeing Avery following the airing of  "Making a Murderer" first season. The two had been together for eight months. The formal notice that is now being distributed online states that the termination of the engagement took effect on Oct.2.

Avery, who has been convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach in 2005, had an oral agreement with Hartman to keep their relationship and conversations a private matter. However, Avery believed that she violated their deal. Avery requested Hartman for a "cease and desist" for interviews.

The lawyer wrote that her client is not making any legal move despite Hartman's violation unless she continue providing interviews. She also requested Hartman not to give her opinion whether the "Making a Murderer"star is guilty or not.

Meanwhile, another ex-fiancee of Avery named Sandra Greenman surfaced and called Hartman a "gold digger" for providing an interview with "Dr. Phil." She also announced that the engagement of Avery and Hartman was terminated in a social media post.

It was the third time for the "Making a Murderer" star to have his wedding called off. He first got engaged with Jodi Stachowski, who is now claiming that Avery was a monster, and he is not innocent of the crime, HLNTV reported.  After Avery's conviction, he was about to marry Greenman, but like Stachowski and Hartman, their engagement was cancelled.

Despite their separation, Greenman supported Avery unlike Stachowski, according to US Weekly. She believes that Avery is innocent. The star of the  "Making a Murderer" has remained his friendship with Greenman up to this date.

Amidst the controversies that Avery has been facing, the production for "Making a Murderer" continues.  Spoilers have revealed that there is a possibility that he may get an acquittal when the season returns. More evidences will be presented as his new lawyer Zellner strongly believes that Avery was framed up for the crime.

Hartman has not given any statement regarding her cancelled engagement. Watch the controversial interview of Hartman with "Dr. Phil":
