Netflix's decision to go ahead with "Making a Murderer" Season 2 was met with a roar of approval from fans of the true crime docu-series and they have every right to be excited as the upcoming season promises a lot of new information.
The 10-part series became an instant hit among audiences with its gripping real-life story about Steven Avery, who was sentenced to life-imprisonment for the murder of Teresa Halbach, which he claims he was wrongly convicted of.
As the case continues to evolve, the upcoming season of the Netflix show will feature new attorneys who will take on the appeal of Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who was also found guilty of the murder.
Kathleen Zellner, who has a reputation for fighting cases of wrongly convicted prisoners, will now represent Avery. Zellner has helped prove the innocence of 17 men who were falsely accused and convicted and has made nearly $100 million in case settlements, according to Bustle.
As seen in Season 1, Brendan Dassey's legal counsel will include Steven Drizen, Laura Nirider, and Robert Dvorak. These attorneys belong to the Center of Wrongful Convictions of Youth and have plenty of experience in exonerating falsely convicted juveniles. Len Kachinsky was previously handling Dassey's case.
Zellner claims to have found a lot of new evidence supports that Avery did not commit the murder and pointed out that the police had never conducted an investigation into this newly discovered evidence.
"Making a Murderer" Season 2 will focus on the new evidence, which apparently proves that the blood found in Avery's car was placed there and suggests the involvement of another individual.
Zellner's promise of fresh evidence is asserted by Netflix 's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, who also teased "a lot of new info" in the upcoming season.
"There is a ton of info that wasn't explored just in the confines of the episodes we've already done," Sarandos said at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, according to The Wrap. "There's a lot of new information coming up."
