"Elementary" fans may not like it but Liu and Miller said the romance between their characters is unlikely. Robert Dohery, the series creator wants to stick to the original material.

"We want to hold true to the literature of their relationship," Liu told CBS on its morning show Oct. 28, Friday. "And how that develops into friendship, which is what drew people into the stories to begin with."

Liu thinks Dohery may have intended to have a woman around Holmes all the time, as he is not comfortable with women. The actress had directed three episodes of the series and will do that again in Season 5. While being complimented by Miller of her skills, she admitted it was not easy being pushed to the max.

Meanwhile, the movie iteration of Doyle's story, "Sherlock Holmes" has been a blockbuster. Its 2009 and 2011 release  grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. The film which stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. John Watson is due for a third release.

The third screen adventure of Holmes and Watson was planned in 2011 and has kept many fans waiting. Downey mentioned filming of the movie will begin in the fall which did not happen as the script is not ready. The actor will soon be occupied for Marvel's upcoming production of "The Avengers: Infinity War," where he will return as Iron Man.

In the third installment of Doyle's story, the hero is said to be taken to North America. To make the production fast, five screenwriters are now signed to write the duo's next case.

The production hired five writers. They are Nicole Perlman of "Guardians of the Galaxy," Gary Whitta of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Justin Malen of "Baywatch," Kieran Fitzgerald of "Snowden" and Geneva Dworet-Robertson of "Tomb Raider," Malay Mail Online reported.
