Samsung may have teased that the Galaxy S8 might feature a bezel-less display with more than 90 percent screen-to-body-ratio which means the display will take up most of the device's space.

Most artist renders of flagship smartphones show the screen taking up almost all of the front-end of the device. It might finally come true with Samsung's next flagship smartphone set to release in 2017.

One Samsung engineer revealed during the iMiD 2016 display exhibition held in Seoul, Korea that they will release such a screen next year. However, they did not confirm whether it will be present in the Galaxy S8.

Park Won-sang showed a concept of a Galaxy S7 Edge with a bezel-less display which could mean that the Galaxy S8 could also have the same design in 2017, Android Authority has learned. He added that they could even roll out a device with a screen-to-body ratio of 99 percent in the following years should it become economically and technically possible.

Samsung has recently slipped up big time with the Galaxy Note 7 and they need every bit of positivity in sales and public relations if they want to survive. Fortunately, the Galaxy S series has not yet been tainted with any major problem yet.

Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone could also have an edgeless design similar to what the rumors hold for the Samsung Galaxy S8, The Next Web reported. There are no solid confirmations yet from either company but all the leaks and rumors point out that edgeless screens might become the new norm for smartphones in the following years.

"Samsung Display would roll out a full-screen display whose display area ratio (a scale that measures space taken up by a display on the front part of a handset) reaches more than 90 percent next year," Won-sang said during the presentation.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be revealed at the upcoming MWC 2017 event in February but some are expecting the official specs and features to be leaked before 2016 ends. Samsung has not yet commented on any of the rumors and speculations surrounding their upcoming flagship smartphone.
