Cha Tae Hyun and Jun Ji-Hyun, both of whom appeared on 2001's "My Sassy Girl," will reunite in SBS' "The Legend of the Blue Sea." The 40-year-old actor is poised to make a special cameo appearance in the upcoming drama.

On Nov. 5, Saturday, an industry source stated Cha recently finished filming for his cameo scene on Nov. 4, The Kpop Herald reported. Not much has been revealed about his role, but he is expected to appear alongside Jun.

The much-awaited cameo appearance of Cha is intended to show support to his former "My Sassy Girl" co-star. In addition to that, "The Legend of the Blue Sea" screenwriter Park Ji-Eun have also worked with Cha in 2015's "The Producers."

It can be recalled Cha and Jun played Gyeon-Woo and The Girl in 2001's hugely successful romantic comedy film "My Sassy Girl." The film established the pair as a top Hallyu stars.

Apart from Cha, there are a large number of cameos lined up for "The Legend of the Blue Sea." f (x)'s Krystal Jung, Kim Sung-Ryung, Shim Yi-Young and Hong Jin-Kyung has already confirmed their respective special appearance in the upcoming SBS drama.

The good news came after SBS released new stills of Jun's mermaid character. The said images were widely circulated on Facebook.


"Jun Ji Hyun is not only the perfect actress to bring a fantastical mermaid to life, her professionalism on set is amazing," a drama staff said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "Despite the difficult, lengthy filming underwater, the actors and staff are doing their best to portray a natural, beautiful mermaid, so please tune into the drama."

Jun, who made her acting debut in 1999's White Valentine," will portray the last mermaid on Earth, Shim Chung, who arrives in Seoul from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897). Shim Chung, who struggles to adapt to a human life, meets the genius and cold-blooded swindler, Heo Joon-Jae (Lee Min-Ho).

"The Legend of the Blue Sea" airs on Nov. 16 at 10:00 PM (KST). Check out the official trailer below:
