Chile has been mercurial in their current World Cup qualifying campaign, having two wins, two losses, and one draw in their last five assignments. The team is currently in the fifth spot of the CONMEBOL table and was able to string one win and one draw to remain undefeated in the last two matchdays.

La Roja is coming off a 0-0 tie with third-place squad Colombia in a match held on the road at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla last Thursday, as per Goal.

Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was the man of the match for head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi as he was able to save two Colombia shots in the first half taken by Oscar Murillo and debutant Miguel Borja.

Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal is questionable in this game versus Uruguay as he suffered a thigh injury late in the game against Los Cafeteros.

Meanwhile, Uruguay is streaking after the team's 0-1 loss to Argentina in matchday 7. Los Charrúas is on a four-game unbeaten run since then with three wins and one draw.

Their last match ended in a close 2-1 decision over tough team Ecuador at their home stadium of Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Daily Mail Online reported.

Center back Sebastian Coates scored the opening goal for head coach Óscar Tabárez's side in the 12th minute of the match.

Espanyol forward Felipe Caicedo was able to level the count one minute before the halftime break after he directed Renato Ibarra's assist toward the net of Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

However, Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan netted what proved to be the winning goal right at the stroke of halftime as both teams went goalless after that.
