Russian President Vladimir Putin has his eyes set on Baltic states and is determined to start the Third World War if United States attempts to rescue the Baltic NATO member. However, Donald Trump's ambiguity in supporting NATO allies puts the fate of Baltic states in balance.

Professor Paul D Miller, a celebrated US Military expert from National Defence University in Washington DC, correctly anticipated the Crimea and Ukraine invasion by Russia four years ago. In his latest prediction, he claimed that Baltics are next to be targeted by Putin in his large expansion plans, as reported by Foreign Policy.

In his speculation, it will either be Latvia or Estonia that President Putin will mark next. However, since the Baltic states are NATO members, all the other member states will be obliged to come for its rescue, thus igniting the Third World War.

Professor further explains that Russia's invasion of Latvia or Estonia will not be an overt affair where Putin will march into a tiny country of two million with traditional uniformed Russian troops. An invasion so obvious will be hard for NATO members to overlook.

Instead, Putin will lodge a vague militarized emergency in the next two years, using proxies that can be easily denied by the Russian government.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump will also be reportedly tasked with a huge predicament of whether or not to defend Baltic NATO member against Putin's annexation plans, affecting the integrity of the peace alliance.

Ex-NATOs Deputy Supreme Allied Commander for Europe, General Sir Alexander Richard David Shirreff, revealed that Trump's comments about ignoring the NATO allies can fatally weaken the peace that has been maintained for over seven decades, The Sun reported.

Sir Richard also added that not only are Baltic states - Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania - under the risk of being occupied by Russia, but Berlin may also be threatened with nuclear attack if they try to reclaim the states.

All of this may be caused due to Trump's uncertainty about supporting the NATO allies, endangering its basic premise that attack on one is attack on all.

Sir Richard further explained that if Putin decided to attack the Baltic borders, it will directly violate the NATO member states, thus initiating a war, very likely a nuclear war.
